The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will decide Tuesday morning whether to move forward with removing Sheriff Christina Corpus from office.
The vote comes after Chief Probation Officer John Keene recommended removal following a closed-door pre-removal conference with Corpus and her attorneys. The conference addressed allegations of misconduct detailed in a June 5 notice, based on a county investigation supported by 524 pages of evidence and 42 witness interviews.
The allegations, according to the county, could justify removal under the charter. Neither the notice nor Keene’s recommendation has been made public due to objections from Corpus.
A four-fifths vote is needed to proceed. If approved, Corpus can appeal through a public hearing before a neutral officer — a process made possible by voter-approved Measure A.
