The old windsock on the backyard fence may see more action this week than in recent months.
The National Weather Service said Monday morning it could be an unusual week of weather for the middle of May, with strong offshore winds at times.
Besides waking up to rain and cooler temperatures Monday morning, the NWS said to expect “unsettled” weather, especially at higher elevations, where there could be gusts up to 50 mph.
Lower elevations around the Bay Area and Central Coast can expect winds from 10 mph to 20 mph, with occasional gusts of up to 25 mph to 35 mph until Thursday.
The NWS said for people to secure loose outdoor objects that can be blown around or damaged by wind. It also said stay clear of downed trees or power lines, keep phones charged and be prepared for power outages.
