A bicyclist was seriously injured Friday around 12:15 p.m. after being struck by a motorist near the intersection of Family Farm and Portola roads in Woodside, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Philip Hallworth said the cyclist was immediately transported by ambulance to a nearby trauma center. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The County’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the collision, Hallworth said.

The county sent an alert at 1:40 p.m. to notify the public of traffic delays around the intersection and to encourage drivers to avoid the area.

By 3 p.m., the road had reopened.
