From luxe tasting menus to concerts and dance parties, you don’t have to head out of town for a lively New Year’s Eve. Here’s how you can ring in 2024 on the Peninsula:

Dinners and restaurant parties

Be.Steak.A in Campbell will offer a buffet with prime rib, caviar, oysters, plus live music and a photo booth ($249/person).

One Fish Raw Bar in Campbell is hosting a nine-course tasting menu with lobster, caviar, white truffle and more. Each course will include an optional drink pairing with a focus on sake and sparkling selections.

Terra at Eataly in Santa Clara is offering a four-course menu featuring burrata made in-house, truffles and fresh fish tartare ($150/person). Terra will also offer panettone varieties served tableside with a choice of toppings such as chocolate, mascarpone and chantilly cream.

Stephens Green in Mountain View will ring in the new year with a DJ dance party and three toasts: a Euro Champagne toast at 3 p.m., an Irish Guinness toast at 4 p.m. and more Champagne at midnight.

President’s Terrace, the rooftop bar at the Graduate hotel in Palo Alto, is hosting a 21+ soiree from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. with Champagne upon arrival, passed light bites, two complimentary beverage vouchers and a toast at midnight ($120/person). Dance the night away with a live DJ set.

Contemporary Indian restaurant Ettan in Palo Alto is offering a six-course tasting menu ($140/person) which includes a glass of sparkling wine or nonalcoholic cocktail for a celebratory toast upon arrival. Dishes include Dungeness crab with red rice khichdi, sunchoke salli, chili ghee and fermented apple; ghee roasted lamb chop with kohlrabi mint foogath, charred edamame beans, vegetable biryani and garlic raita; and passion fruit with white chocolate, hazelnut chikki and jalapeno oil. A separate vegetarian menu is also available.

Meyhouse in Palo Alto will host an evening with dinner, live jazz music from George Cole Band followed by a DJ dance party and a complimentary Champagne toast at midnight ($300/person including 20% tip). The menu includes four cold mezes and three hot mezes; choose from dishes like slow-braised lamb shank with warm spices, wild branzino or wood-fired Chilean sea bass with fig murri.

Pioneer Saloon in Woodside is hosting a party with Paperthin Band from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. ($25/person cover charge). Dessert and Champagne toast included.

Left Bank in Menlo Park will serve a four-course dinner from 4-9 p.m. featuring roasted duck breast, petrale sole, oysters and lobster bisque ($95/person excluding tax and gratuity).

Rosewood Sand Hill hotel in Menlo Park will serve a four-course meal on New Year’s Eve ($225/person). Choose from entrees of lobster risotto with uni and white alba truffle; filet mignon with celeriac puree, pomegranate and glazed salsify; or turbot with braised leeks, sauce Jacqueline and Osetra caviar.

Che Fico Parco Menlo in Menlo Park will serve a four-course dinner featuring lasagna, doppio ravioli, wagyu beef tenderloin and Perigord black truffle caramel ($225/person).

LV Mar in Redwood City is offering a three-course prix fixe menu and additional tapas and cocktail options ($75/person).

Nighthawk in Redwood City is hosting a black-and-white masquerade party with a DJ, craft cocktails and a Champagne toast (check with the bar for pricing). 

Alhambra Irish House in Redwood City will offer a four-course meal in addition to its regular menu (check with the restaurant for pricing.) Entrees include slow-roasted pork belly, char-broiled New York strip steak, and sesame and ginger-glazed mahi mahi. Dinner will be served from 6-10 p.m. and the New Year’s Eve celebration will go until 1:30 a.m. with DJ Ari.  

The Iron Gate Restaurant in Belmont will host a DJ from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ($35/person cover charge).

Music and dancing

Sunnyvale’s Hilton Garden Inn hosts “Toasted by the Bay” from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with a DJ and dance floor, party favors, midnight balloon drop and photo backdrop ($42/person, $50 at the door). Suggested age 35+.

Alberto’s Salsa Night Club in Mountain View will host an evening of salsa and bachata lessons for all levels, dancing and a midnight balloon drop with Champagne toast and party favors. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Palo Alto’s Hilton Garden Inn hosts a black-tie affair from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. with a red carpet reception, drink specials, appetizers, two DJs, party favors and a Champagne toast ($75/person). Few tickets left as of press time.

Cubberley Ballroom in Palo Alto will hold a dance party open to all levels of dancers. No experience and no partner necessary. Beginning and intermediate lessons offered, followed by ballroom dancing until 12:15 a.m. Ring in 2024 with sparkling cider and indoor fireworks at midnight. Lessons start at 8 p.m. followed by dancing at 9:15 p.m. Entry is $20 per person.

Join Palo Alto Contra Dance for a special New Year’s Eve dance at First United Methodist Church of Palo Alto, with music by Ben Jackson, Dave Bartley and Marni Rachmiel ($6-$25/person).

The Palo Alto Elks Lodge will host a party from 6-10 p.m. featuring a buffet dinner and carving station, complimentary Champagne toast and a feed of the New York City ball drop at 9 p.m. ($80/person).

The Guild Theatre in Menlo Park rings in the new year with Big Head Todd and the Monsters and special guest The Barlow. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $99 for the all-ages show.

Beatles tribute band The Sun Kings present their annual New Year’s Eve party at Club Fox in Redwood City. Tickets ($75 per person general admission) include party favors and midnight toast.

Crowne Plaza hotel in Foster City will offer free beer from 8-10 p.m. at its International Extravaganza featuring five live bands, 10 DJs, party favors and a midnight balloon drop ($70/person).

Family-friendly

Fibbar Magees in Sunnyvale will host a family-friendly Irish New Year celebration in the afternoon. A DJ will play music from 3-5 p.m., with a countdown at 4 p.m.

Broma Restaurant at the Shashi Hotel in Mountain View will be serving a prix fixe menu with canapes, an appetizer, salad, entree and dessert ($65/person, with a kids’ tasting available for $20/child; gratuity and tax not included). Add on a wine or nonalcoholic cocktail pairing for an additional charge. Vegetarian option available.

Celebrate Noon Year’s Eve at the library. San Mateo County Libraries is hosting special storytimes and parties Dec. 27-Jan. 2 with storybook guests at various events ranging from Clifford the Big Red Dog and Curious George to the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Stick around for songs, stories, crafts, a character meet-and-greet and more. On Dec. 31, Cupertino Library will hold its Noon Year’s Eve Dance Party at 11:30 a.m. for kids of all ages and their families.

Ring in the new year early at Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 31 ($14-$21/person, children 4 and under free). Activities include three balloon drops, a Peninsula Ballet Theatre performance, marionette show, dancers and more. Tickets will only be sold in advance and are expected to sell out.

Pinstripes in San Mateo will serve its full dinner menu for bowlers and bocce players and provide party favors, Champagne for adults and sparkling cider for kids. Live music starts at 8 p.m. with a 9 p.m. balloon drop for families and one at midnight.
